The event will be hosted by DJ D-Money and he’ll be pouring the sugar on you time after time. So don’t be too shy during this cruel summer – we’re all livin’ on a prayer ‘cause we just can’t get enough. Whether you’re Billie Jean or Jessie’s girl, drive a little red corvette or walk like an Egyptian, remember the girls just want to have fun  and fun is definitely to be had this Saturday at M Resort’s Totally Awesome 80s Pool Party.

The “poolside pit” offers four blackjack tables with minimums starting at just $5. You’ll find a double-deck game and three shoe games. Did we mention the lovely dealers? They look amazing clad in their bright yellow two-pieces and a friendly smile. The tables are under great shade and surrounded by misters. They’re also right next to the poolside bar, so you’ll get your favorite summer cocktail or ice-cold beer in a jiffy. 

The poolside pit is open Saturday and Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. so come and enjoy some summer gaming action outside in this spectacular setting.

Tucked behind Spa Mio you’ll find our fitness center. It offers all the things you’d expect – rowing machines, stair master, treadmills and ellipticals, and a whole array of weight machines and free weights (aren’t they nifty with the M logo?!). You’ll find all the equipment is new, well-maintained and clean. Water and fresh fruit? On the house. Need a towel? We keep ours on ice for you. Headphones? Yep.

But what is it that really makes the fitness center at M Resort stand out? The view. We certainly offer an array of televisions if it’s the latest news, sports or celebrity gossip you want to catch up on, but if you’re looking for something to really get you motivated, try gazing out at the spectacular Villaggio Del Sole pool and entertainment piazza. It’s hard not to want to do 10 more reps or 15 more minutes when those azure waters are staring back your way, filled with frolicking summer guests.

There’s no better place to frolic, relax, get some sun or stay cool in the shade and misters of a private cabana than at M Resort. M boasts more than 100,000 square feet of pool and entertainment space outside. The Villaggio del Sole Pool and Entertainment Piazza features two, 5,460 square foot chlorine, heated, infinity-edge pools and two large Jacuzzis. For the utmost in luxury and privacy, VIP cabanas are also available to rent daily. These cabanas are located closer to the entertainment piazza and further from other pool guests. VIP cabanas are stocked with all the same amenities as regular cabanas, but include a few extra pampering surprises. Each VIP cabana contains a personal infinity edge hot tub (really, you have to come check these out because they are sweet), a private shower and access to a private sundeck. 

If you like to be front and center (don’t worry, there are curtains!) M Resort also offers six of our famous “island” daybeds located between the two main infinity pools giving you a primetime view and a pampered retreat for the day. Daybeds are covered with a canopy and curtains, which can be closed for extra privacy.

What is my job as Executive Director of Sales for the M Resort? Part of it is to ask meeting planners around the country the above question – why not come to the M Resort for your meeting? 

Through my discussions and travels to the numerous meetings tradeshows and conventions throughout the year I receive many answers from planners on why they don’t know, don’t want to, or can’t book their meeting at our resort (of course I also hear the – “I can’t wait to have my meeting at your resort!” from planners too –but that’s too easy to talk about).

 Now, some of you might remember the Italian Festival and some of you might not, so we’ll do a quick refresher course and then talk about this weekend’s big event.

First begun by the Marnell family 17 years ago at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, the Italian Festival was a locals’ favorite, attracting thousands of people over the course of the two-day event. For a decade, the Marnell family Italian Festival was the talk of the town. Now, they’ve brought it back at the M Resort – with a few added twists.

Our Italian Festival weekend is all about food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. (By the way, admission is free!) Here’s a rundown of what you can expect.

  A Feast for the Senses

Stroll through our outdoor piazza and treat yourself to authentic Italian dishes like calzones, pizza, sausage and pepper sandwiches and various specialties prepared by local restaurants and our very own world-renowned chefs. We’ll also have over-the-top desserts like cheesecake, cannoli, biscotti, Italian ices and the ever-popular fried dough.

For the Bambinos
We have face painting, colorful balloon art, airbrushed tattoos and roaming stilt walkers – not to mention great live entertainment by Louis Prima Jr. on the main stage at 3, 5 and 7 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Grape Stomp
You can check out your favorite local radio and TV personalities as they compete during one of our Grape Stomping Competitions on Sunday at 2 pm.  We also have public contests throughout both days.

Spaghetti Eating Contests
If clearing your plate comes easy, save room for spaghetti and put your skills to the test at our Spaghetti Eating Contest. Kids and adults can sign up at our festival information booth.

Bocce Ball Tournaments
If a true competition is more your style, sign up for our bocce ball tournaments or free play hours.

 Farmer’s Market
Authentic Italian cuisine can only be achieved with the freshest of ingredients. Shop Italian-style at the open air Farmer’s Market and take home delicious fruits and vegetables.
