Why not come to the M Resort for your meeting?

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Guest Blogger: Drew Varga, Executive Director of SalesAug19DrewVargasmall

What is my job as Executive Director of Sales for the M Resort? Part of it is to ask meeting planners around the country the above question – why not come to the M Resort for your meeting

Through my discussions and travels to the numerous meetings tradeshows and conventions throughout the year I receive many answers from planners on why they don’t know, don’t want to, or can’t book their meeting at our resort (of course I also hear the – “I can’t wait to have my meeting at your resort!” from planners too –but that’s too easy to talk about).

When I’m out and about or talking to planners my job is to turn those don’t knows, don’t want tos, and can’ts into solid bookings for the resort. So what do I tell planners about the M Resort? It depends on their specific needs and what business objectives they want to accomplish, but generally, I tell them, at the M Resort we take a different approach to meetings. We don’t have millions of square feet of meeting space – we weren’t designed to be a massive exposition hotel – but the space we do have is boutique in nature, accommodating the most discriminating of meeting planners. It’s boutique because we want you to feel at home.

At a little more than 60,000 square feet of meeting space and 390 rooms, M caters to small and mid-sized meetings, conferences and group events, offering enough space to handle your group comfortably, but something small enough that you can manage things easily and keep it intimate.

A 2009 Smart Meetings Platinum Award Choice winner and a 2009 Forbes Four-Star Award winner, the M Resort staff truly caters to planners and attendees going above and beyond. Don’t want to go through the hassle of planning everything? We can help as little or as much as you need. If it’s turnkey you want, we’ll take care of it. MBoardroom1small

If you’ve been to or read about M, then you’ll know food and beverage is one of the things we pride ourselves on most. We recently had Season 6 of Bravo’s Top Chef take place at our resort! Food and beverage includes catering. Our catering department stands ready to tailor a menu toward your creative tastes or designs or – because we know food and beverage is just one thing on your checklist of things – we also have pre-arranged offerings designed to ease your mind – at least for a little while!

Plus, since all the venues at M are owned and operated by the property, it’s easy to book an entire restaurant or area all to yourself. Have you seen Villaggio Del Sole? If you’re looking for something spectacular, there’s nothing like poolside in Vegas at a fabulous resort. ExteriorPoolsideViewblog

Love the look and feel of Marinelli’s? It’s yours. Think Hostile Grape couldn’t be more perfect for your private party? Done. Have something even bigger in mind? How about the entire resort to yourself? That’s right, if you’ve got the inclination, we’ll make M your group’s personal playground.

I hope I get the opportunity to speak to you about why you should book your meeting at the M Resort. Until then, thanks for reading!

Holiday Must-Haves, Must-Tastes and Must-Sees

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

We’ve set up our holiday decorations – wreaths, lights, Santa’s sleigh and the nation’s tallest Christmas Tree. In addition to all the great décor, we’ve introduced specialty holiday cocktails at our destination bars, menu items for Christmas day in our restaurants and featured seasonal specials in our patisserie. With so much to see and taste this December, we went to work to compile our list of holiday must-haves, must-tastes and must-sees while you’re at the M Resort this month.

Here are our recommendations (in no particular order):

Must-Tastes

  1. Pumpkin Apple Vanilla Muffins inside Baby Cakes (there’s also Pumpkin Almond Scones that are amazing!) Ultra-moist with just the right amount of sweetness these delicious muffins are good any time of day.
  2. Marinelli’s ravioli of winter squash, crisp pancetta, with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme pesto. A December dining favorite, the ravioli hits the spot this month. To sweeten the deal, Marinelli’s is offering a complimentary pasta entrée with the purchase of one, Sun-Thurs.
  3. The Café Saint Nick. This coffee drinks packs a great punch. It’s made with Peppermint Schnapps, Godiva Chocolate liqueur and Bailey’s Irish Cream. Of course, can’t forget to top it off with whipped cream and a candy cane!

Must-Sees

  1. Well, we had to put our tree on the list as a Must-See because it is after all the nation’s tallest Christmas Tree. It’s lit nightly on our piazza.
  2. The 35 gingerbread houses created by Clark County elementary schools. The talent and creativity of our local elementary school students and teachers will blow you away. The houses are on display under our grand staircase in front of Spa Mio.
  3. The view from Veloce Cibo, our 16th floor restaurant on New Year’s Eve. Yes, we’re already talking about New Year’s Eve. We’re convinced the M Resort has one of the most spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip. After all, we do sit 400 feet higher in elevation than any other casino on Las Vegas Blvd. We have hotel packages available if you’d like to stay at the resort and enjoy the New Year’s celebration. The packages come with lots of additional amenities like 2-for-1 drinks, late check out and spa access. If you just want to party without the stay, you can get tickets to the different venues through Ticketmaster.

Must-Haves

  1. Gingerbread House Kit for the family.  Once you see the elementary school gingerbread houses we know you’ll want to create one of your own. We have gingerbread houses available at Baby Cakes for just $7.50.
  2. An iMagine Rewards card. Qualified members benefit all month long with free gifts including wine, champagne, holiday shirts, platters, ornaments, aprons and more.
  3. Gift card from the M Resort. Why not give an entire resort as a gift? You can purchase gift cards in any denomination to use at our spa, destination bars or restaurants. Plus, if you’re an iMagine Rewards Card member (see above about that) you receive 25% off gift cards when you use your points.
  4. $18 wine from Baby Cakes.  Need a gift for the holiday party? A stocking stuffer for an adult? Or just want to indulge yourself? We have great Rieslings and Pinot Noirs available for just $18 inside Baby Cakes.

When You’re Here – It’s All About Our Food

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

To say that food is important to the M Resort is an understatement. We have nearly 30,000 square feet of kitchen and culinary work areas dedicated to the culinary arts. We have our own reserve list of Marnell family beef at Terzetto, our steak and seafood restaurant and a bounty of live fish arrive daily and are housed in our ocean of tanks within our main kitchen. In addition to our fresh food, we also have our very own wine created from grapes from the Marnell family vineyard. We even have homemade gelato and artisan breads.

Our love of food though isn’t anything new. If you aren’t familiar, the Marnell family is credited with bringing many unique culinary innovations to the Las Vegas market while owning and operating the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino from 1992 to 2001. Many of the innovations are still widely used today. Below is a sample of some:

First in Las Vegas to host James Beard Out-of-House Events, which included the most recognized American celebrity chefs. It was the catalyst in attracting the late Jean-Louis Palladin, who eventually made the Napa Restaurant his home.
First in Las Vegas to introduce programs that exemplified an unsurpassed dedication to food.
First full seafood buffet in Las Vegas.
First in Las Vegas to sell specialty foods made on premise.
First to establish roof restaurants and lounges in Las Vegas.
First to have a master sommelier on staff in Las Vegas.
First to have own charcuterie on premises in Las Vegas.
First to open the largest wine cellar and tasting to the public.

If you’ve eaten at our restaurants, let us know your favorite meal. If you haven’t eaten here, what are you waiting for?

Here’s a sample of some of our favorite dishes.
