Do Summer as a Vegas Local

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

We’re here to bring you the inside scoop on how the natives survive the summer months in Vegas. Our best piece of advice: do summer like the locals do. And, here’s how.

Worship the sun.

Chances are you’re going to find yoursepoolchairsbloglf at a pool while in Vegas (trust us, you’ll want to cool off). Whether you like things on a grand scale, (100,000 square feet grand enough for you?) or something a little more intimate, our very own Villaggio Del Sole and DayDream Pool Club are perfect for any pool patron. At either pool, grab a cabana, maybe a bottle or two (they start at only $65!) and enjoy the day lounging on a cushy chaise lounge chair with drink-in-hand. You can find more of our tips just for the pool, here.

Get happy during Happy Hour.

There’s no reason for you not be VeloceDrinkshappy while you’re at M since we offer Happy Hour 24/7. We know it seems too good to be true but if you go to any of our inside bars cocktails are just $5 and bottled beers $3. To sweeten the deal, our restaurants offer their own happy hour deals on food. A whole sushi platter for just $10 at our rooftop restaurant Veloce, half priced appetizers from Anthony’s Steakhouse, or even a hot dog and beer special from 32 Degree Draft Bar.

Play your cards like a true shark.TableGames1blog

There’s nothing wrong with playing the tables in the casino. But, each weekend our pool deck is populated with a great crowd. A crowd that includes a bevy of beautiful poolside black jack dealers ready to deal your next hand. So go out, get some fresh air and place your bets under the sun while taking in the great atmosphere of bikini-clad pool dwellers.

Leave time for relaxation.

Any well-versed Vegas traveler knows to leave roSpaTherapyPoolsblogom for a little R&R. What the locals know is to spend their R&R time at Spa Mio. Take advantage of their world-class massages, facials and other soothing treatments and also the amazing specials they offer (to everyone not just locals).

Join the Club.

Ever wonder how locals get comps imaginerewardsblog(the Vegas term for “free”) to our award-winning Studio B Buffet? We’ll let you in on a little secret, it’s because they’re a member of our iMagine Rewards Club! Join our rewards club so you too can earn great comps, prizes and even cash back.

Lobby Bar View

There may be other Lobby Bars in town but none of them have a view like ours!

The Lobby Bar: that classic hotel staple that makes a lobby feel, well just a little cozier. Lobby bars give you a front row seat to all the comings and goings at a resort. They are the crossroads of a hotel, which makes for great people watching to say the least. Whether it’s a business traveler making their next deal or a couple of carefree vacationers there’s always something to see.

Lobby Bar at M Resort

Our Lobby Bar just happens to be a bit more of a destination than most, besides the fact that we can count how many other ones there are in the city on one hand. It’s decked out with posh seating, deluxe décor and an amazing view of our pool deck . Top it all off with a master-crafted cocktail (for only $5) and a few delicious light bites and you’ve got yourself a night out in the making. It’s a modern sophisticated atmosphere without the pretention.

Lobby Bar at M 2One of the best parts of this amenity at M is you don’t need a hotel room key to enjoy the spoils of our lobby bar. This centrally located destination is the perfect place to snag a seat and mingle amongst the other guests and once you’re inside you might be inclined to stay awhile and, lucky for you we have four-star accommodations just an elevator ride away so you don’t have to leave (if you don’t want to.)

Warm Weather Wines

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Wine SelectionIt’s not quite summer yet, but with the temperatures rising and lighter cuisine gaining popularity over winter’s heavy fare (think juicy turkey burger on the grill rather than pot roast in the oven); we’re headed in the right direction.

We caught up with Sam Bennett, our wine guru and sommelier at Hostile Grape and had him share some of his summer wine selections with us.

“In the summer I always enjoy white still wines and especially sparkling wines.  There is something very refreshing about Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and champagne when the temperature heats up,” said Bennett.

Honig Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley has always been one of his favorites for the warmer seasons.

“The gooseberry, melon and touch of grapefruit with crisp acidity is really refreshing.  Monchhof ‘Mosel Slate’ Riesling-Spatlese from Germany is lower in alcohol than most still white wines and has a nice touch of sweetness.  The aromas or fuzzy peaches and other stone fruits present in this Riesling also make it a huge crowd pleaser.”

Although wines are not to be missed during the summer months, champagne always holds a special place for Bennett.

“Its effervescence (that’s bubbles if you don’t have a wine dictionary neary you!) and refreshing qualities make it perfect for pool time as well as patio time.  Yeasty, bready, Brut Champagne is my favorite in the summertime.”

For unique summer wines Bennett recommends ‘Brachetto D’Acqui,’ Banfi, “Rosa Regale.”

“It is a sparkling wine that is a little closer to red wine than a rose that comes from the Piedmont region of Italy.  It has a slight touch of sweetness and is really great when served chilled.”

Here’s What Happy Looks Like

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

If you read our blog (which we hope you do!) you’ll know that a few weeks ago we launched a contest. We asked people to show us they were happy by submitting a photo of themselves enjoying our new Happy Hour Guarantee here at the M. We would pick our two favorites and award the winners with a $50 gift card each.

Well, the time has come to announce our winners! It wouldn’t be polite to not acknowledge everyone who submitted photos, so thank you to those of you who read our blog and who submitted photos for our contest.

But we did have two favorite photos and we’re excited to announce the winners so without further ado the winners of our Show Us You’re Happy photo contest are….Linda B and Roseann H!

Linda was one of the first to submit her photo and had the largest group of friends in it!  Can you spot your favorite Sex in the City character?  Turns out, the group had a Sex in the City themed party for Linda’s singles group inside the Hostile Grape. According to Linda, the group was supposed to dress up like their favorite character!

“Most of us enjoyed the appetizers and bought a $25 wine card. It was great! I don’t like a lot of wines, so it was a fun and inexpensive way to try many wines before I found my favorite,” Linda commented.

Roseann was one of the last to submit a photo of herself and her husband Tracy. The twosome, along with their good friend, Dave, who flew in from Rochester, and a large group of family, were celebrating Roseann’s and Dave’s birthday here at the M when they snapped this quick photo.

According to Roseann, the birthday celebration wasn’t even the best part of the evening. “My sister and her husband, my mom and her boyfriend and another couple joined us, but the best part was that our son who is an active member of the United States Air Force flew in to surprise me for my birthday!  He is now 21 so it was the first time he had ever been to happy hour with us.”

We think experiencing the M’s Happy Hour Guarantee is a great first time happy hour! Thank you for the photos Linda and Roseann and we hope you had a great time with your friends and family at our resort.

We think it’s about time for you to be happy.

Drinks to Bring Your Irish Out

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

IrishbeerHappy St. Patrick’s Day! Here at the M we’re breaking out our Irish Whiskey and Guinness beer to celebrate a beloved holiday that doesn’t even require that you have a drop of Irish blood in you!

We could talk about the history of the holiday or about its association with the color green, but instead we decided it would be a lot more fun to talk about the drinks! We compiled a guide to some of our Irish-inspired beer and cocktails that you can find throughout our property. Here goes:

32Degrees

32 Draft Bar with 96 beers on tap

Let’s start with the good ol’ beer. We know you have the classic choice of Guinness but for those looking to branch out, 32 Draft Bar, our bar for the consummate beer lover, recently added several new beers, coincidentally in time for St. Patrick’s Day! Here’s a look at some of the new additions inspired by the Irish.

  • Smithwick’s: The original amber ale from Ireland. While this beer is clearly an Ale it takes characteristics from both Ale and Lager styles. Clean and smooth with rich malts.
  • Wexford Irish Cream: The authentic Irish Ale dates back to 1810 from Wexford. Brewed using the original family recipe with Irish malt and hops, Wexford has a smooth mellow creaminess.
  • Murphy’s Irish Stout: Brewed from all natural ingredients; smooth and creamy, with a subtle bitterness. The blackish color comes from a difference in process at the roasting stage.

Lucky Leprechaun Specialty Cocktail

If ales and stouts just aren’t your thing, don’t worry. All our bars also feature our Lucky Leprechaun specialty cocktail, which promises to bring out the Irish in ya. Made with Baileys, Frangelico and a dash of green crème de menthe it’s a classic and we venture to say, it’ll bring you some luck.

We don’t think you’ll have any problem finding a drink you’ll enjoy, but if the above choices still don’t have you inspired, perhaps our price point will. Even on St. Patrick’s Day, our Happy Hour 24/7 still applies – meaning that Lucky Leprechaun specialty cocktail and that Jameson Whiskey are just $5, along with all our other premium drinks. And those bottled beers of Guinness (and all other bottled beers) they’ll run you just $3 – at every bar, all the time, every day.

So, raise your glass and cheers to good health! Slainte!
