It’s almost time for the Big Game and if you live here in Vegas or have visited during this time, you’ll know the Big Game means big happenings. At M Resort we’ll be blowing things out once again with tons of good stuff for our guests and of course lots and lots of TVs where you can catch all the action. It’s shaping up to be one of the best match-ups we’ve seen in a long time, so we want to make sure you’ve got everything you’ll need here at the property to make your super Sunday one to remember.
We’ll be hosting a property-wide Super Sunday Big Game viewing party on Sunday, Feb. 6 where the excitement is guaranteed to go beyond the sports book. View the game in a fun, upbeat atmosphere throughout the property with a live radio remote with KKLZ 96.3, prize giveaways including a ski trip and tickets to a professional football game, food and beverage specials and the lovely Budweiser girls.
Our celebration kicks off at 1 pm with a public viewing party inside Ravello Lounge. Equipped with 42 TVs, you can relax in the lounge’s comfortable seats while enjoying $10 buckets of Bud and Bud Light, $3 Cuervo Orange Margaritas on the rocks and $2 Cuervo shots. Stadium-style food specials start at 2 pm with favorites including hamburgers, buffalo chicken wings, Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, potato chips and more available for purchase with items starting at just $1.50!
If you’re looking to stay close to the best race & sports book in Vegas or the casino gaming action you’ll find drink specials at 32 Degrees Draft Bar, Lobby Bar and M Bar. Lobby Bar will offer its standard food menu starting at Noon. Drink specials include:
- $10 buckets of Bud and Bud Light 12 oz. bottles
- $3 Cuervo Orange Margaritas on the rocks
- $2 Cuervo shots
For those of you with a serious appetite, Hash House A Go Go will offer guests a big game special of 1 lb. stuffed Burgers and Fries with a domestic bottle of beer (or non-alcoholic beverage) or Two Giant Bratwursts with Fries with a domestic bottle of beer (or non-alcoholic beverage) for just $10.95. The restaurant will also offer additional beer and appetizer specials in the dining room from 3-11 pm.
For guests looking to bet on the game, the Cantor-operated race and sports book at the M Resort offers the perfect location. Guests are free to bet traditionally or use Cantor’s In-Running wager, allowing them to bet continuously throughout the game.
The fun doesn’t start or stop with the game however, as New Year’s Eve entertainment headliner Wes Quave returns for encore performances on Thursday and Friday from 9 pm to 1 am and Saturday from 6:30 pm to 2 am in Ravello Lounge.
We hope you’ll make M Resort your place for the Big Game! See you Sunday!

Chinese New Year is almost here and we here at M Resort are celebrating in style with all our guests. But first, a little about those of you born in the “Year of the Rabbit” (or Hare). If you were born in the following date ranges, you can consider yourself born in the “Year of the Rabbit”:
29 January 1903 – 15 February 1904
14 February 1915 – 2 February 1916
2 February 1927 – 22 January 1928
19 February 1939 – 7 February 1940
6 February 1951 – 26 January 1952
25 January 1963 – 12 February 1964
11 February 1975 – 30 January 1976
29 January 1987 – 16 February 1988
16 February 1999 – 4 February 2000
3 February 2011 – 22 January 2012
People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. They are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky. They are fond of gossip but are tactful and generally kind. People born in the Year of the Rabbit seldom lose their temper. They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing. However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise. They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog.
Now about that celebrating. As one of the only locals casinos celebrating the Chinese New Year, we’re inviting locals and tourists alike to celebrate the Chinese New Year with some with festive décor including tangerine trees, welcome banners, lanterns and 8 selections of Asian favorites like Satsuma, spring rolls, Beef Lo Mein and more at our award-winning Studio B Buffet beginning February 3.
In addition a Year of the Rabbit collectible chip is available for purchase at the casino cage for $8 while supplies last. The poker room will offer special promotions including flop four 8s and win $888, make four 8s and receive $88 and the first 88 players that make 8s receive a collectible Year of the Rabbit Gaming Chip. Plus, play live poker every day from 8:08 am to 8:08 pm and a random lucky player will receive $88.
On Friday, February 11, M will host a traditional Chinese lion and dragon dance performed by the Lohan School of Shaolin. The dance will include a 30-person assembly with a 63-foot dragon including adult and baby lion dancers, Buddhas, musicians and festive flags. It will begin in the lobby to chase away evil spirits, continue through the casino floor, past the High Limit Salon, buffet, poker room and table games and end back at the lobby.

If you’re a regular reader of the M Point of View, you may remember posts like “The Full Ethernet Floor” and “Your Favorite Games.” We’re talking slots which as you know are a big part of the casino floor here at M Resort. With about 1,900 slots here, you have plenty to choose from, including popular classics as well as the latest new games on the market. With it being a new year, we thought we’d talk about some of the latest trends in slots you’ll see in 2011 (and are already seeing).
One thing you’re bound to see more of this year are slots with community bonuses. While they were introduced a while back, these types of slots have continued to grow in popularity. And why not? When one person wins, everybody wins!
You’ll also be finding more great popular culture themed games hitting casino floors. These games aren’t just restricted to a single time period either. Tarzan, Dirty Dancing, The Dark Knight, The Hangover, The Godfather and many more are on the way. Movies not your thing? Television is represented too with games based on popular shows like American Idol and a new Deal or No Deal themed slot.
Perhaps the most significant trend for 2011 you’ll see however, is the expansion of interactive games which offer direct player input. Generally taking the form of bonus games, these slots ask players for more than simply selecting an item on a touch screen. Look for bonuses including mini-games where your skill and direct input have a bearing on the outcome. From spinning a virtual wheel and using pinball-like flipper action buttons, to fending off alien invaders and more, these slots will definitely make you a part of the action.
It’s not just the great new games and technology you’ll find on our casino floor that make M a great place to play slots, however. Natural light on the casino floor, 96 beers on tap just waiting for slot players to order, and let’s not forget an amazing player’s club with tons of free gifts and great comps are all things that make M a delight for players. There’s always something extra you get here at M too – great service. As a Forbes Four-Star property, you know the staff here is going to be top-notch. From our award winning M Girl cocktail waitresses to the technicians keeping those machines up and running, our Team Members are a big part of what will surely make your time gaming a pleasure.

…And when it comes to table games players here at M Resort, that statement holds true. Why? Because we’ve always taken the attitude that this should be a gamblers place to game. Now that statement may seem a bit odd. Of course it’s a gamblers place to game – it’s a casino! But if you’ve gambled in Vegas at an assortment of properties, you may have noticed that some places seem to understand and appreciate their players and in turn, provide them with service that reflects this appreciation and then there are the places that don’t. It seems simple, doesn’t it? Why on earth would a casino not cater to their players?
For many people, the things that we do at our tables aren’t that obvious. For players who play a lot of table games and do so frequently however, the differences are easier to spot. Looking for a $5 game? We’ve got one. All the time. On a winning streak? Don’t worry, you won’t see a deliberate shuffle or dealer change. In the middle of a hand? Our cocktail waitresses know it and won’t ask you if you’d like anything until they know you’re ready. Want to touch the cards at the baccarat table? We charge $25 instead of the usual $100 you’ll find in Vegas. Looking to raise the limit in our High Limit Salon? $10,000? Okay. Want to play in the High Limit Salon but not looking to drop thousands? You can play for as little as $50 and you’ll find a single-zero roulette wheel in there too.
The list goes on and on. But back to that title – it never hurts to ask. When it comes to table games here at M (or just about anything for that matter), this holds true. Our players ask for new games and we get them, like the Crazy Four Poker we just added. Want an iMagine Rewards card but don’t want to wait in line? Just ask – we’ll make you one right in the pit. When you are ready for that cocktail, ask for what you really want – if we’ve got it or can make it, it’s yours. Hungry? Let us see what we can do.
We’re not here to tell you we’re going to give every player anything and everything their heart desires, but we are here to tell you that at M Resort we’re here to help. If you have a reasonable request, it would be our pleasure to try and make it happen.

What makes a resort? It’s an interesting question and one you may not have considered before. There are a lot of places around the world that are considered and/or call themselves resorts – there are ski resorts, destination resorts, beach resorts, spa resorts, golf resorts – the list goes on and on. But can anyone just call themselves a resort? Sure they can, it just doesn’t necessarily make it true.
A resort isn’t just a hotel, and it isn’t just a hotel with a restaurant and a pool. A very broad definition of a resort is somewhere you go for rest and relaxation that provides a number of amenities such as a hotel, dining, entertainment and more. A resort is somewhere you can go and essentially have everything you need to rest, relax and enjoy yourself without having to go anywhere else.
Because the resort definition is fairly broad and can cover quite a number of different things, you have to do some thinking and planning when choosing the resort you want to enjoy. Here in Vegas, we have a variety of resorts. Most of them offer similar amenities – hotel, gaming, dining, entertainment, pool and spa. So how do you make your choice? Perhaps the most important question you need to ask yourself is what do you want your experience to be? Do you want the hustle and bustle of the Strip and to be surrounded by other visitors? Do you want something a bit more secluded, where you can get away from the crowd? Is somewhere with 3,000 rooms your style, or 300?
We here at M Resort of course we have an opinion and you can guess what it is. We don’t have anything bad to say about our “megaresort” neighbors to the north – it wouldn’t be Vegas without them. But one of the things we tried to accomplish with our property is our vision of a “true resort” – somewhere you can get away to and actually rest and relax. Don’t get us wrong, there’s plenty of action to be had here – from gaming and live entertainment to poolside parties. Heck, even our buffet has a lot of action! Yet M Resort allows you to experience Las Vegas at arm’s length, but still offers you the ability to grab hold of Sin City and jump right in if you want.
Sometimes it’s hard to enjoy a resort when there are so many other people trying to enjoy it as well. Sometimes you don’t want to push your way through the crowded sidewalks. Sometimes, you want your resort to offer you rest and relaxation on top of the excitement and action. Remember, it’s your vacation and you should get what you want out of it. If you’re looking for the perfect compromise when you come to Vegas, we think we’ve got it here for you at M.

It’s been another great year for us here at M Resort with just one more day to go before we ring in 2011. We hope you’ll join us in our New Year’s Eve celebration here at the property. Here at M we have a lot to celebrate, to be thankful for and to look forward to.
It was another great year of events, concerts and holiday happenings. Our 1st Anniversary was definitely a hit and it was so much fun to celebrate with all our guests and Team Members. Our pool was also quite a hit again this year – our locals and visitors coming out to enjoy the amazing resort feel and extra long season we enjoyed. And if Italian food is your passion, our 2nd Annual Italian Festival served up some of the best Italian fare to be found in the city (as well as some pretty hilarious spaghetti eating and grape stomping contests)! From outdoor concerts to football parties and holiday celebrations, there was always something good happening at M.
We also had a lot to be thankful for in 2010. Our amazing Team Members once again provided exceptional guest service and helped us earn our second consecutive Forbes Four-Star Award. We also earned some serious accolades here locally from the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Best of Las Vegas Reader’s Poll including “Best Buffet”, “Best Sports Book”, “Best Cocktail Waitresses”, and the coveted “Best Local Hotel”. This of course wouldn’t have been possible without all our locals voting for us so thank you.
Which leads us to thanking all of our guests – locals and visitors alike – for your patronage and support throughout 2010. M Resort Spa Casino is an amazing property, but it’s nothing without all of you. We continue to strive to provide outstanding guest service, the best dining, resort amenities, entertainment and gaming to you and we can’t thank you enough for in turn providing us with your business.
We’re looking forward to an amazing 2011 and we hope you’ll be a part of it here with us at M Resort. Enjoy the holiday and we’ll see you next year.

New Year’s Eve is the biggest holiday of the year here in Vegas. Why? Well, it’s a party of course and there’s nowhere better to party than Sin City. If you’re a local or have been a visitor here for New Year’s Eve, you’ll know that because it’s such a party night, you’ll often end up paying exorbitant prices in restaurants for pre fixe menus and overpriced drinks as well as pretty much feel as if you’ve been robbed getting past that velvet rope at the club. That’s all if you can make your way through the traffic and find somewhere to park. Yikes.
Here at M we’re inviting guests young and old to enjoy our Forbes Four-Star resort your way with a
celebration to suit every taste and all price points. With no cover charges or pre fixe menus, you’re free to dine at your leisure, dance the night away or enjoy the thrill of red-hot gaming action and a champagne toast at midnight.
We’ll offer complimentary party favors and cake and champagne stations throughout the property’s 92,000 square foot casino and live entertainment in the Lobby Bar, entertainment lounge, Ravello, and popular wine bar, Hostile Grape, which features more than 160 wines by the glass. A designated area outside Hostile Grape in Villaggio Del Sole pool piazza will be set-up for those who want to leisurely party by the pool.
With a vantage point 400 feet above the Las Vegas Strip properties, you’re invited to view the fireworks from the M Resort’s six terraces including our 16th floor restaurant, Veloce Cibo. All three of our fine dining restaurants, Marinelli’s, Terzetto and Veloce
Cibo, will accept reservations for the evening and will offer standard menus. Hash House A Go Go will add special items to its popular “twisted farm food” menu for the evening.
DINING
Veloce Cibo – 5pm to 1am or later

Here it is, the final edition of “Ten Off-the-Cuff” for 2010. Here are ten off-the-cuff things we think are pretty cool at M Resort that you should know about:
Wine is one of those things that is very much subjective. There are some you love and others you just can’t stand. And don’t you hate it when you order an entire glass of one that you really don’t care for? No worries in Hostile Grape: the enomatic wine machines here allow you to taste a huge variety of wines in one, three and five ounce pours with prices to match. Get a small taste if you’re trying something for the first time that you’re not sure about, or get a whole glass if it’s a favorite.
The M Girls 2011 Calendar is definitely cool, as are the ladies themselves, and this is one cool thing here at M that won’t be around forever so get ‘em while they last. They’re available for just $10+tax at 32 Degrees and Studio B Buffet and part of the proceeds goes to benefit the American Cancer Society.
There are some absolutely amazing chandeliers and other light fixtures here, but perhaps the most spectacular is in M Bar. It’s made of thousands upon thousands of individual pieces that took an awful long time to assemble. It’s definitely worth a gander.
How about another “M” something? It’s our M Cider and it will definitely make you go “Mmmmm.”
Want to rid yourself of that winter chill? Try the therapy pools at Spa Mio. They’ll warm you up and relax those holiday stress knots right out of you. Ooh! Cool chandelier again!
Yes it’s more wine, but it’s really the room we wanted to point out. This is the electric wine room at Marinelli’s. It’s electric red and just so happens to house some pretty amazing reds you can enjoy with dinner.
Tucked between Terzetto and the Lobby Bar is the Oyster Bar. It’s a great spot to saddle-up for some delicious seafood treats and easy conversation.

Here’s one of our other favorite “M” things – the M sign on the side of the hotel tower. It can be programmed to do all sorts of cool things and if you come out to the property right now, you’ll see it’s gone all candy cane for the holidays.
You’re not in Kansas anymore – this is Vegas baby! The new Great and Powerful Oz slots are REALLY cool. These slots feature some of the latest sensory immersion technologies, great bonuses and communal gaming.
And while we’re on the topic of gaming, have you tried it away from the slots and tables yet? Here at M we offer Cantor Gaming’s eDeck devices which feature slots, video poker and table games right from a small wireless device.
That’s ten! Come down and check them out!

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different staff positions at a casino/resort property. One of the most sought after and difficult to perform is that of the table games dealer. Why is it sought after? For some it simply comes down to the money – dealers can make a very good living here in Vegas. This however, relates to the second reason many become dealers – customer interaction. Great table game dealers are very similar to great waiters and waitresses: they have a high-level of expertise so they know what they’re doing and they understand customer service. Remember, great customer service doesn’t always mean you’re in the guest’s face asking them if there’s anything you can do to help – it’s about timing and knowing when and when not to get involved and when that time is right, executing proficiently. In the table game dealer business, great customer service equals better tips.
So, there are definitely certain people who make great dealers. They have to have that customer service attitude. They have to be dexterous and able to handle things like cards, chips and dice. They have to understand mathematics and have the ability to calculate things quickly. All in all, it can be a tough business to break into and for a property, it can be a tough business finding dealers who are not only qualified, but also possess the personality that will truly make a great dealer.
Considering all this, M Resort has decided to take an interesting and rather unique approach to finding great dealers – the Table Games Academy. What’s that you ask? It’s just what it sounds like – a school to teach people how to become a table games dealer. Anyone, from any department, in any position can apply. The current class has students from a variety of departments including Food & Beverage, Security, Valet and others. The classes are no-cost and completed on the students’ free time.
It may seem strange that a company would promote movement into a different position in a different department, but when you think about it, it actually makes a lot of sense. We’re finding people who will make outstanding dealers which will ultimately benefit the property and benefit our guests. The students have the opportunity to make a better living and also learn a highly desirable and specialized skill free of charge. One student, for instance, has been working two jobs for more than 15 years and will now earn more than those two jobs combined. Since the students obviously have an interest in becoming dealers, the property is able to retain them here at M Resort rather than seeing them leave for another property.
Guess what? The teachers are doing this on their free time too and aren’t getting paid. Why? They’re learning management and training skills which can ultimately lead them to gaining a better position. The bottom line is that M Resort is providing its team members with opportunities to learn and grow professionally within the company which means great employees end up staying here. That also means those same employees stay here to provide you, our guests, with outstanding customer service. Win, win, win.
Why limit it just to dealers? That’s right – we just started the Facilities Academy where team members can learn engineering and maintenance skills.

There are a lot of reasons the poker room here at M Resort has become one of the top in Vegas in the short period of time the property has been open. The room itself is hard to beat (though we can’t guarantee you won’t have the occasional bad beat!).
The 14-table room is warm and inviting, offering a level of comfort that you won’t find most places. Whether you’re in for a few quick hands or an extended stay for one of the many tournaments, it’s nice to know you won’t go home with an aching back. And what holds true in real estate applies to poker rooms too – location, location, location. The room has easy access being located right next to the parking garage entrance and the restrooms are just steps away. Hungry? Thirsty? Vig Deli delivers classic deli fare to hungry players and 32 Degrees pours a frosty selection of 96 beers on tap. In fact one reason some of our regular players choose M Resort is that they can enjoy one of the city’s best beer selections. Let’s not forget about the game too. We know, you need to concentrate on the hand…well, at hand. But if you’re dying to know the score or want to place a quick bet, the race & sports book is right next door.
How about those tournaments? Not to mention all the promotions. There’s never a shortage of either in M’s poker room. Mini beats, progressive high-hand jackpots, four-of-a-kind bonuses and great guaranteed prize pool daily tournaments. In fact in December, we’re offering the $100,000 M Beat with the biggest guaranteed player share in Vegas. Wonder why the slot players are always the ones to get all the free stuff? We’ve got gift days for our poker players too.
The reality is though, there’s something that really makes the poker room here at M Resort special and different – our team members. We’ve got the best dealers, managers, front desk staff and cocktail servers. You’ll hear players welcomed by name and you’ll see plenty of smiles from team members and guests alike. So get your cards on the table here at M – if poker is your game, we’ve got the room that treats you right.
