10 Off-the-Cuff Vol. II

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

We know you wanted another one, right? Here are 10 more off-the-cuff things we think are pretty cool at M Resort that you should know about:

pastriesblogThe pastries at Baby Cakes are divine. Have one with your coffee, as an afternoon snack or take a big bag home or to the office. Believe us, they’re gonna love you for it.

LoftTVblog

We’ve told you a bit about the loft suites and this is definitely one of the coolest features. As if the spectacular view, immaculate room and floor to ceiling windows weren’t enough, the TV above the bed appears magically and tilts to just the right angle for you to watch while sprawled out in that oh so comfy bed.

VelocePatioblog

Above that loft suite? One of the most amazing outdoor spaces in Vegas. The patio outside Veloce’s bar and lounge is something you have to experience. Relax with some sangria and watch the sunset.

imaginerewardsblog

The iMagine Rewards Club is cool. The point system is better, the gifts are better, the staff is friendlier, the cards just look niftier….

naturallightblog

And while you’re using that card, enjoy some of that natural light in the casino. WHAT?! NATURAL LIGHT IN A CASINO?! Yup.

TerzettoTableblog

Been to Terzetto yet? It’s our steakhouse and if you’re looking for a very cool place to dine, try the feature table. “Look mom, no legs!”

HGceilingblog

When it comes to cool things suspended from the ceiling, head down to Hostile Grape. Those are thousands of slats from wine barrels which came from the Marnell winery in Napa. An artist put them together, numbered them, took them all apart, then reassembled them here at the property.

cardsblog

Don’t know about you, but logoed playing cards are just cool. They scream “Vegas.”

StudioKitchenblog

Hopefully you’ve seen it by now, but if you haven’t, you need to check it out. It’s a restaurant, it’s a buffet, it’s a show kitchen/TV studio? Just like you’d find your favorite celeb chef in on TV, there’s a show kitchen inside Studio B with lights, cameras and plenty of cooking action with Martini Time – Vegas’ only live cooking show.bettingstationblog

Sports betting at M is something you have to try. Look at the betting stations!

That’s 10! Check them out next time you visit us here at M!

Gaming with a poolside view

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

poolsidetableblogA while back we told you that M Resort offers fitness center users a poolside view. But why stop there? Did you know you can game with a poolside view too? That’s because we’ve got table games by the pool! It’s hard to beat playing a few hands of blackjack with a view like this.

poolsidegamingThe poolviewblog“poolside pit” offers four blackjack tables with minimums starting at just $5. You’ll find a double-deck game and three shoe games. Did we mention the lovely dealers? They look amazing clad in their bright yellow two-pieces and a friendly smile. The tables are under great shade and surrounded by misters. They’re also right next to the poolside bar, so you’ll get your favorite summer cocktail or ice-cold beer in a jiffy. poolsidegamingblog2

10 Off-the-Cuff Vol. I

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

M Resort is full of wonderful things, many of which we’ve told you about and many more you’re yet to learn about. Every once in a while, we’re going to bring you 10 off-the-cuff things we see and think are pretty cool around the property. Here’s your first look:

PorteCochereblogWhat is it? Well, it’s the porte cochere of course. That’s the fancy French name (literally meaning “coach gate” or “carriage porch”) for the covered area at the main entrance where valet, taxis, etc. are located. What’s so great about this? Well, the architecture is awfully interesting, with its swooping glass roofline and integrated beams. When’s the last time you saw a porte cochere you could see through?
 MSmellblog

Next up we’ve got something a little difficult to capture in an image but we did our best – the M Smell. Now this is one many of you have experienced, enjoyed and commented on. As casino scents go, this one is tough to beat.

Carpetblog

Okay, okay – it’s carpet. But come on, some casino carpets out there make you positively nauseous! And while we’d never claim this one was subtle, it’s tasteful, warm, modern and fits the M just right.

  CasinoChairblog

Yep, that’s a chair. What the heck is cool about a chair? Well, if you spend any time playing slots you’ll know. We didn’t shirk when it came to spending money on chairs – they’re comfy and perhaps just as important, they’re light. Ever tried to move a chair at a casino and thought it surely must be bolted to the floor? Errgh.

FinishingRoomblog
How about a little back-of-house for you? What’s this you ask? Looks pretty plain and boring, but it’s actually pretty cool. These are windows that allow team members to see inside the bakery finishing room. As we walk by on our day-to-day travels, we can sometimes catch a glimpse of our pastry chefs decorating those amazing cakes and desserts you see around the property.

BeerWineBuffetblog

Thirsty? Beer and wine is included in the price of Las Vegas’ best buffet. Enough said.

BathroomTVblog

Ah yes. If you haven’t stayed with us yet, it’s time. Why? Well the rooms are suite (and yes, we meant to misspell that!) and have some great features. That’s a TV in the mirror so you can catch up on the morning news when you’re getting ready, check the weather if you’re travelling, or perhaps not miss one minute of that late night program before you hop into that delightful bed.
SpaSculptureblog

There’s an awful lot of amazing art at M if you take a moment to stroll about and look for it. This is the sculpture outside Spa Mio. It’s just cool.

VIPCabanapoolblog

Never seen this before? Time to get yourself a VIP cabana and spend a day at the pool. That’s right, there’s a little private pool hiding at the back of them. Awesome.
TeamMembersblog

Well, we couldn’t get an image of them all, so this was the best we could come up with today. Without our Team Members, M Resort would just be a big building full of nifty stuff. With them, it’s a big building full of nifty stuff, smiles and outstanding service that will keep you coming back for more.

High Limit doesn’t mean High Roller

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

HLsalonsignblogIt seems there’s a stigma that HLsalonentrybloggoes along with high limit rooms in Vegas. “I must not be able to play in there.” “You have to HLsalonfloorbloghave a ton of money to play in there.” “Only the VIP’s can get in that room.” None of these are true of the high limit salon here at M Resort. Anyone can play in the high limit salon and while it’s true the limits are higher than you’d find out on the main floor, you don’t need to come walking in wHLsalonbackdropblogith a suitcase full of money (though, we’re not going to stop you either!) You can bet in the high limit salon with as little as $5. Remember, if you’re betting more, you have the opportunity to win more. And let’s be honest, every guest is a VIP at M Resort.

The high limit salon here at M is tucked into a quiet corner on the main floor next to Marinelli’s. You’ll see some stunning chandeliers marking the entry as well as a lovely disc of polished hardwood inlaid with our distinctive M Resort logo. The salon is elegant, but not pretentious. It’s cozy and inviting featuring warm colors and textures and an all-around comfortable atmosphere. One wall is shared with the spectacularly crimson-illHLsalonbartopsbloguminated glass wine cellar in Marinelli’s. You’ll find another set of sparkling chandeliers above you, an inviting fireplace next to you and a smiling and helpful staff all around you.

What can you play in the high limit salon? It features four bar-top electronic poker machines with $5 and $10 limits. (Yes, there’s a lovely full-bar waiting for you!) There are also a variety of table games to choose from – a midi-baccarat table with limits of $100 – $10,000 per hand, four blackjack tables with limits of $100 – $5,000 per hand (the dealer stands on soft 17 and guests can choose the “surrender” option on shoe games), and you’ll also find a single-zero roulette table with limits of $100 – $300 on inside bets and $100 – $3,000 on outside bets, not to mention a spectacular view overlooking the pool. Where else can you “bet the inside” and enjoy a view of the real outside at the same time? Need to take a break? There’s an outdoor terrace where you can relax. HLsalonviewblog

The high limit salon is open Monday through Thursday from noon to 2 a.m. and opens at noon on Friday staying open continuously until the following Monday at 4 a.m. So next time you visit us here at M Resort, stop by the high limit salon – place a bet and enjoy the elegant comfort, high roller or average Joe.HLsalonroomblog

*Please note that limits and available games are subject to change.

A Day at M for Dad

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Father’s Day is almost upon us and there’s no better way to spoil your dad than with a delightful day at M Resort. We know it can be difficult to come up with special things to do for dads on Father’s Day, so here’s a few of our favorite picks that are sure to please him:

SpaMioblogFirst, get him ready for his big day with a trip to Spa Mio. He may resist at first, but you can assure him spas are for guys too and don’t worry, there’s a “man cave.” The “Mio Man Time Package offers a 50-minute Therapeutic Massage and a Haircut or Master Shave for just $140 (a $50 savings). Or how about the “Dad’s Day Out” package – a 50-minute Relaxation Massage and a For Him Facial for just $185 (a $70 savings). Maybe the “Mr. Big Package” – a Master Shave or Haircut and Manicure and Pedicure for dad for just $125 (a $15 savings). Believe us, if he’s never had a master shave it’s going to make his day!

BabyCakesblogHe’s bound to be hungry so head over to Baby Cakes where you can get dad a delicious cup of coffee (or he can even indulge in that mocha-frappa-latte-whipped-cream-thingy we know he loves but he’ll never admit to) and a fresh-made pastry. Italian donut anyone?

poolblogThen it’s time for a little fun in the Vegas sun. Rent dad a cabana or day bed where he can relax poolside with a fresh summer cocktail or ice cold beer. There’s cool blue waters and spectacular scenery for him to enjoy while he works hard at being lazy.

StudioBblogHungry again!? It’s time to settle down and indulge in the best buffet in Las Vegas – Studio B. Beer and wine are included in the price and when it comes to eats, he’ll find more choices than he can imagine – delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts that won’t quit! The whole family can go back for more…and more…and more.

CasinoFloorblogWe know dad has given you money a TON of times, so maybe you should slip him a twenty and take him to his favorite game. Is he a blackjack man? Poker? Maybe he likes to hit the slots? Give him the chance to win it big on his big day.

32degreesblogLet’s face it, most dads like beer, sports and TV. Just off the casino floor he’ll find his dream trifecta in 32° Draft Bar. With 96 beers on tap there’s something he’s sure to like while he watches all the games on a slew of TVs. He can even pop over to the Race & Sports Book to make a bet. If he’d rather stay where he’s at, we’ve got mobile gaming and betting for him!

TerzettoblogIt’s time for dad’s special Father’s Day meal and there’s no better place than Terzetto. It’s home to hand-selected prime cuts of beef, including a reserve list from the Marnell family ranch in Montana. Dine on the terrace and watch the sun set with a spectacular view of the Strip and valley.

Remember that dads need the best when it comes to rest and relaxation this Father’s Day and you’ll find the best here at M Resort. And don’t forget to tell him you love him and thank him for all he does!

Ante Up – Meet poker dealer Jasmine Freeman

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

JasmineFreemanblog2M Resort’s poker room is almost always busy. And that doesn’t mean you’ll wait for a table, just that there are lots of people out there who like playing here. Why? One reason is most certainly the poker room staff. From top to bottom, they’ve created a team that feels more like a family. That camaraderie and comfort with each other has translated to the customers and turned M’s poker room into a place where both players and staff are enjoying their time at the tables.

One reason, or person we should say, responsible for making poker at M the great experience it is, would be Jasmine Freeman. With a ready smile, a bright personality and dealer skills to match, she’s an important part of a team that’s managed to create a significant following of regular players.

Originally from Georgia and a mother of two, Jasmine has been in Vegas for three years, transferring here while in a previous career where reports and paperwork were the daily grind. Jasmine first got involved in poker as a player, visiting various rooms at different properties all over the city. When asked what it’s like being a woman playing poker in a game that’s predominantly played by men she says, “I’m viewed as being pretty passive and as a tight player. It can work to my advantage early in the game because when I do make a bet, other players assume I have a great hand and fold.”

She was told while playing that she might have the skills and personality to make a good dealer. The idea seemed crazy at first, but she’s now been at it for two years and has definitely made her mark here at M. She originally came to work at M because of the location, since she’s a Green Valley resident, but says the property has a lot of other things to offer: “I definitely prefer working at a locals’ property. We have a consistent group of players that come in almost every day and I really enjoy getting to know them and forming relationships. It’s also just a beautiful property.”

When it comes to the room itself, convenience is key: “It’s convenient for players and that’s important. The room is very close to an entrance and parking. There’s also a restroom nearby as well as food. There’s not a long wait and it’s a friendly place to play. We offer great promotions too, which keep players coming back. It’s also not smoky which isn’t true of a lot of rooms. People ask me sometimes how I can stand to work somewhere that’s smoky all the time. It’s not!”

Jasmine brings a lot to the table as a dealer that you probably won’t find many other places: a dynamic personality, a true love of what she’s doing and a knack for interacting with customers. When asked what she brings to the table as a player she quickly responded: “A donation of chips?” After we finished laughing she went on to say for the most part she just plays to have fun and enjoy the game rather than going out to make money. She loves that poker is a communal game and that players and dealer get to interact with each other.

And what is it she loves about her job? The people she gets to work with. Jasmine tells us the M Resort poker team is full of great people who work well together and make each other’s lives easier. They have fun and get a lot of support from management, which she says is definitely a rarity in the business.

Something you may not know about Jasmine? She’s an avid rock climber. She was also M Resort’s employee of the year. We hope you’ll stop by and see her as well as all the other great team members who make M’s poker room the place to play.

The Full Ethernet Floor

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

When you walk inside M Resort, you probably notice that it isn’t like the vast majority of other properties here in Las Vegas. It’s new. It’s modern. It’s innovative. From the architecture and design elements to the restaurants, rooms, pool and piazza, you know that a great deal of thought, time and effort went into the planning and execution of the property. Something that may have slipped your notice however, is quietly lurking beneath the casino floor. CasinoFloorblog

No need to worry or watch where you’re putting your feet though. What you’ll find beneath the casino floor is what those in the biz like to call a “full Ethernet gaming floor.” In a casino environment the ability to change and adapt is crucial. Almost all current casinos in Las Vegas still use serial data connections to their slot machines. Here at M Resort we have nearly 1,900 machines operating at any one time in groups of six to eight machines called “banks”. Our slots utilize Ethernet connections and have a dedicated network switch located in the base of the machine.

CasinoFloor1blogNow that’s all well and good, but what does it mean for you the slot player and what’s the benefit? Have you ever walked onto a slot floor and found that an entire bank of machines, the bank you were planning on sitting at of course, is shut down? Here at M, moving or changing slot machines is as simple as unplugging, moving and plugging back in. Casinos without a full Ethernet floor often have to rewire the machine. Changing out one machine often means shutting down and changing the entire bank. What the full Ethernet gaming floor ultimately means for you, is that we can very quickly and easily change our floor configuration, add new machines and offer the latest and greatest games from the slot manufacturers. It means a lot less interruption to the slot floor and less hassle for you, the player. It also means you are able to use and enjoy all the features and technological advances of those new machines whereas casinos without the latest technology in their floor are stuck with outdated technology on their floor.

So next time you sit down in front of your favorite machine here at M or find that brand new machine you’ve been dying to try, remember what’s lurking beneath the casino floor and why it’s great.

March Madness – M’s the place to watch and wager

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

March Madness is once again upon us. The bracket is set and the road to the Final Four and Championship is now something tangible for teams and fans across the country. Here in Vegas, there are two things we tend to pay attention to when this time of year arrives: our UNLV Runnin’ Rebels and sports betting.

The Rebels will be taking on the Panthers of the University of Northern Iowa tomorrow night in Oklahoma City. It’s looking like a great match-up so be surR&B2bloge to check it out. And if you want to check it out somewhere great, we can move on to the second thing we pay a lot of attention to here in Vegas during March Madness. If you’ve never been to our race and sports book here at M Resort, you’ve been missing out. Why? First of all, it’s just plain cool and comfy. There’s always a great atmosphere with tons of seats, LOTS of screens and the friendliest staff you’ll find in Vegas.

In-Running-DeviceblogWhat really makes it the place to be, however, is our in-running wagering. The first casino in the country to offer it, M Resort allows you to bet throughout a game. Is your team behind? Hedge your bet. It’s so cool, ESPN just ranked us the #1 race and sports book to watch the tournament. Here’s a little excerpt from Chad Millman’s article, “Five best sports books for watching the tourney”:

Know what I’m getting a lot of these days? Questions about where to watch the NCAA tournament in Las Vegas. Seems heading to The Strip for the first four days of March Madness is a really big deal. Who knew?….

So, herewith, are the consensus picks:

1.The M Resort – The newbie on the scene won hands down. The M is on Las Vegas Boulevard, but it’s a 15-minute drive from the main drag. It’s not that big of a deal. I’ve made the trek half a dozen times. You’ll spend more time stuck in traffic going from Mandalay to Caesars on a Saturday night. The book is nice, the chairs comfy and the food good. But the reasons it gets the nod from the wise guys are the high limits and the in-game wagering –betting on spreads and odds that change with nearly every play– which makes the book feel like the floor of a Wall Street trading firm during a game. “The best,” Fezzik told me. “Not even close.”

You can read the full-article here with an ESPN Insider account. So what are you waiting for? There’s no better place to watch the tournament this year then at M Resort.

iMagine Rewards – You can use points where?!

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

SlotsblogM Resort is home to more than 92,000 square feet of gaming action. Our expansive casino floor showcases the best gaming mix in town, featuring nearly 1,900 machines and the latest and greatest in gaming technology. From pennies to $100, M Resort players enjoy a wide range of denominations fit for the casual player or high-roller. Couple this fantastic casino floor with the iMagine Rewards Club and the result is an unparalleled edge over any other Las Vegas resort.

So what is it about iMagine Rewards that makes it so great? Let’s face it – pretty much every casino out there has some kind of rewards program and just about every program out there operates in a similar matter – players earn points through their slot and/or table play and can in turn redeem those earned points, usually for things like free slot play, dining and branded merchandise. Well that’s all true for M Resort and its iMagine Rewards program too, but there’s definitely a few things that make benefits for members truly unique. UpCasinoFloorblog

iMagine Rewards Club offers its members an up-front, simple point-redemption policy. Players enjoy the option to redeem their points for cash, comps AND free play among other things. Our iMagine Rewards Club is all about options and lots of them. The rewards program was developed to offer the best value to our club members by allowing them to redeem their points however they choose. Guests are free to select the rewards that best suit their individual lifestyle and the result is a flexible program with something for everyone.

What really makes iMagine Rewards unique, however, are the other places players can redeem their points. Did you know M Resort has an onsite, full-service pharmacy? Gas station and car wash? Want to get a facial or massage at Spa Mio? Is fine dining your thing? If you pay for your meal with points at Veloce Cibo, Terzetto and Marinelli’s, we’ll give you a 50% discount this month. There are tons of other benefits you’ll enjoy in and around the property too.pharmacy

So what’s the bottom line? If you come and enjoy yourself here at M Resort, you should get yourself an iMagine Rewards Card – it’s free and right now new members have a choice of an M logo t-shirt or $5 in free slot play. If you don’t come to M Resort, well, you have to get down here and check us out!
