Sizzling summer temperatures, long days and melting popsicles (or cocktails) can only mean one thing — the Fourth of July is upon us. Independence Day is a time to embrace our patriotic side by doing what Americans do best: having fun! Here are a few ways to celebrate the holiday with us at M.

1. A day at the pool. Our Main Pool is open seven days a week but this Wednesday, DayDream Pool Club will be open for a special Fourth of July celebration. Grab a swimsuit and some sunscreen (it’s going to be a hot one) and spend the day poolside in our backyard paradise. We’ve got cocktails to cool you off and the hottest DJs to keep the party going.

2. An all-American meal. What’s more American than a buffet? From macaroni and cheese to prime rib and everything in between, you can feast on all your continental favorites at Studio B. Be sure to save room for dessert, you won’t want to miss Studio B’s apple pie, with a scoop of vanilla gelato for a perfect sweet treat on the Fourth.

3. Test your luck at the tables. Our poker room started its Fourth of July celebrations early with its Red, White & Blue Giveaway promotion. Win your share of $25,000 by earning red, white and blue tickets while playing at our tables. Drawings take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday but tickets can be earned daily!

4. Put on your own personal fireworks show. You can purchase fireworks from over 390 different stands across Southern Nevada until 11:59 pm on July 4. Remember to light your fireworks on a flat surface away from trees and brush. It’s also a good idea to have a bucket of water and a hose on hand to soak used fireworks before disposal.

However you choose to celebrate, we wish you a safe and fun Fourth of July!

Calling all beer aficionados, 32° Draft Bar is ready for you, with 97 different beers and ciders. Think you can drink them all? Our beer bar boasts 90 different drafts on 96 taps, but for those of you who prefer the bottle, they have a variety of bottled beers to savor as well. There is a spectacular variety of beers; from common to craft and international beers that will appeal to the beer geek and novice alike.

The new menu is arranged by country of origin along with a brief description of beer. There are 88 drafts listed on the menu. Two featured drafts are constantly rotated in, so it‘s best to ask your bartender about our newest selections! And, it’s also a great excuse to come back and see what’s new on tap.

Some of 32’s most popular drafts are Moa Imperial Stout out of New Zealand, Blackhawk Stout from Mendocino Brewing Company and Sculpin IPA from Ballast Point Brewery. 32° Draft Bar even has beer cocktails, featuring the Black Forest Cake. This unreal beer cocktail is a mix of Guinness Stout, cake flavored vodka and juices, and yes, it taste is just like its name!

The bar itself overlooks our casino floor and the race and sports book. There are both bar seating with tabletop gaming as well as high top tables. The back bar is lined with our 96 taps and TV’s are everywhere, to catch all the sports action. The staff willingly accommodates guests’ viewing pleasures by tuning into the vast array of sports available.

Our bartenders know their stuff when it comes to beer. They may not be beermeisters, but they have an uncanny way of finding the beer that best suits your taste buds. They’re always willing to help you with your selection. Not only will our 32° bartenders and servers eagerly tell you about the beers available, they’ll also give you the scoop about our food specials. That’s right we’re bringing you one of the best selections of beer in town and food to go along with it.

32° Draft Bar has a local bar feel and is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the Strip. Good food, affordable prices, great variety of beer that you might not find at other places and a staff that makes you feel like this is where you belong! During Baseball Season, treat yourself to one of the specials below while you’re having a nice cold one!

The sun can be brutal, especially on that perfectly crafted cocktail you just ordered at our pool deck. But don’t worry; we’ve got something special to keep your drinks cold. If you look carefully at the bar at DayDream Pool Club, you might notice something a little icy. The frozen strip running the length of the bar is there to keep your drink at the perfect temperature, even in the scorching summer heat.

We’re able to keep our bar (and your drinks) frosty in the 100-degree weather with a little help from CHILL*RITE and their one-of-a-kind frost rail system. Frost rails are connected to a remotely located chilling system that continuously feeds refrigerant to all of the rails. It runs at a very low temperature so that the system creates ice as fast as it’s melting.

Think of it working like an open freezer door; the frost builds up from the humidity in the air. The frost rails can refrigerate a surface in warm ambient conditions; the surface then condensates and the frost rail system freezes the condensation. With precise temperature controls, it’s able to totally control how much ice builds and how evenly it forms.

All it takes to get a chilled CHILL*RITE bar rail is a quick flip of the switch. Once the switch is activated, the system begins creating frost, with a full pattern formed in a couple of hours. Once started, the chilling system runs around the clock. There is a built in defrost system with a programmed time clock that turns the system off when our bar is closed and automatically on just before the bar opens. When in defrost mode, the ice melts, drains, and the frost rail system dries off automatically. Then, when the system comes back on in the morning, fresh ice is formed.

Originally, CHILL*RITE invented and patented the frost rail technology as a unique ice effect to draw patrons in. Our pool is currently the only public place in Las Vegas that you can find a frost rail bar. But, if you really fall in love with our frost rails, you can get them installed in your own home. They can be built to any size and practically any shape. Plus, they’re really fun to write your name on.

Think elaborate multi-course menus, multiple visits to the buffet, and dessert and wine pairings sound fabulous? Try indulging in these perks of the trade without packing on the pounds. With a little help from Forbes, we got an inside look at how their professional eaters (called Forbes inspectors) enjoy fine dining – and lots of it – with delectable results.

Start with a Cocktail
Imitate the Europeans and begin your meal with a bitter cocktail (such as champagne, Vermouth or Campari). This is called an aperitif (from the Latin word aperire, meaning “to open”), a light alcoholic drink meant to spark the appetite.

Let it Sparkle
Your water preference may seem unrelated to eating, but choosing sparkling over still will help with digestion. Due to the carbonation, sparkling water is almost impossible to drink too quickly and will keep you from feeling bloated and overly full.

Flee from Fillers
Sure that basket of bread may look delicious, but it’s not going to be more satisfying than your main course. No matter how elaborate the bread offerings may be, (and ours are pretty elaborate) enjoy a bite or two of the doughy delight and save room for what’s to come.

Ask for Guidance
M’s skilled restaurant Team Members are trained and ready to help you navigate our menus and make the perfect selection for your palate. Don’t hesitate to ask their opinions on certain dishes; chances are they’ve tasted nearly everything on the menu.

Keep it Balanced
Foods have various weights and consistencies. When ordering, it’s important to mix and match the richer items with lighter foods. If you’re dining on filet mignon with a side of foie gras, it’s best to order a light appetizer and dessert to avoid feeling weighed down with indigestion.

Don’t Starve Yourself
Planning on skipping breakfast and lunch in anticipation of dining at Studio B or another one of our restaurants? Have sensible meals earlier in the day. This will help expand your stomach and give you more room to enjoy that last scoop of gelato!

What’s a brewtail, you might ask? It’s a drink with a kick and M’s unique spin on the popular beer-cocktail trend. These new boozey hybrids are larger than a traditional mixed drink and are served up in bigger glasses. They’re particularly popular in the warmer months of spring and summer. The effervescence that beer brings to the glass is a thirst-quenching alternative to your traditional libation, perfect to cool you down from the desert heat.Served exclusively at Anthony’s Burgers & Brews, brewtails take on a new prominent role on the drink menu. Aside from their already extensive list of traditional beers, three varieties of brewtails are available for beer connoisseurs (or the curious) to enjoy.

Lager Shandy

Lager, Sprite, orange vodka, sweet lemon and lime

The Lager Shandy is a blend of beer and sparking lemonade. It’s inspired from the popular traditional shandies (beer mixed with citrus-flavored soda) from Great Britain, Ireland and other European countries. It brings out the beer flavor to create a light and refreshing drink without the added heaviness.

Chocolate Stout Margarita

Chocolate stout, sweet lemon and lime, Sauza Silver Tequila, Cointreau

We never thought a drink with chocolate and margarita would blend as well as this one. Our Chocolate Stout Margarita is a twist on the beer margarita, using a stout to make the beer more perceptible. The sweet and sour taste of the margarita pairs perfectly with the refreshing flavor of chocolate.

Red Ale Mary

Red ale, clamato and spicy tomato juice, squeeze of lime

This Bloody Mary on steroids uses red ale to give you that “redeye” pick-me-up. This spicy and flavorful cocktail is perfect after a long night of drinking.

When developing these brewtails, our food and beverage team knew that creating the perfect flavor was key. They wanted to make cocktails that were as unique as the M brand and ones that our guests would be eager to order again and again. The next time you’re at Anthony’s Burgers & Brews, be sure to try one of these amazing creations!

This year we’re bringing you new sweet ways to beat the heat. In addition to traditional piña coladas (we have lots of those too) we’re debuting a menu full of refreshing adult favorites that are bound to become your go-to cocktail to sip (or slurp) by the pool this season.

Think popsicles couldn’t get any better, how about ones with a little kick? We’re serving up SnoBar’s signature line of alcohol infused popsicles and ice creams. Each serving of the flavorsome frozen treats are equivalent to one mixed drink.

SnoBar’s Cosmopolitan Ice-Pop is delivering premium vodka and triple sec in the form of a contemporary dessert. This sexy, frozen cocktail on a stick is ideal for the sophisticated vanguard and a perfect addition to a day at the pool. If a margarita’s more your style, SnoBar’s Margarita Pop infuses tequila and triple sec into a dessert with swagger. This modern twist on the beloved drink is a “must try” frozen cocktail on a stick.

For something a little sweeter, SnoBar’s four different flavors of infused ice cream are just what the doctor ordered. Served by the scoop, you can choose from Pink Squirrel (brandy, almond liqueur and reme de cacao), Grasshopper (brandy, creme de menthe and creme de cacao), Brandy Alexander (brandy and creme de cacao) and Brandy Alexander Chocolate Chip (brandy, creme de cacao and chocolate chips).

Delicious frozen cocktails are a poolside staple and our list of libations certainly won’t disappoint. For a new twist on a traditional favorite, try our Ultimate Root Beer Float. This delectable creation features SnoBar’s Brandy Alexander ice cream with root beer, served by the half yard in a souvenir glass. We also offer many popular cocktails in frozen form like: Frozen Jack and Coke and Frozen Cherry Coke with cherry vodka.

With all these choices, you’ve got a lot of drinking to do, cheers!

Cocktail mixing is all about creativity and enjoyment for you and your guests. Learning mixing methods is often the first lesson at any bartending school and can easily be incorporated into your own skill set while entertaining at home. Here are the basic cocktail mixing processes our bartenders use and instructions on how to apply these techniques to make the perfect libation.

Build

Building a cocktail is done by pouring the ingredients on top of one another in a serving glass. This is usually performed in the order the ingredients are listed in the recipe. This technique is often used for non-alcoholic drinks, but can also be applied for cocktails with carbonated ingredients such as a rum and coke. The carbonation from the soda naturally mixes the drink.

Blend

Probably one of the most well-known mixing techniques, blending is done with an electric blender. Drinks can be made in a blender cup with all ingredients, including ice. This technique is used to liquefy solid or fruit ingredients to a creamy consistency. This type of drink should not be watery or super thick; it should be smooth and thick and enough to hold a straw upright.

Roll

To roll a cocktail, a cocktail shaker and a pint glass are needed. The rolling process begins by filling a glass with ice and the cocktail's ingredients. The mixture is poured into the shaker and then poured back into the glass. This technique combines drinks while melting as little ice and air as other methods.

Shake

It's best to shake a cocktail when fruit juices, eggs or cream are involved. This technique will result in an eye-opening libation with a layer of froth on top. First, fill a shaker with the drink's ingredients. Next, seal, shake vigorously and strain into glassware or pour over fresh ice. When shaking a cocktail that requires soda, add soda at the end.

Stir

You've probably stirred a drink before, even if it was just your coffee. To stir a cocktail, fill a glass with ice and your drink's ingredients. Stir with a bar spoon and strain into glassware.

Layer

Layering a drink is an art form. Distinctive looking layered cocktails are achieved by slowly and carefully pouring one liquor over another. The effect of each liquor sitting atop each other is produced when liquor of varying densities are poured into the drink.

Muddle

Soft fruits, mint leaves, sugar cubes and other similar ingredients must be broken up or muddled to release their flavors into the cocktail. Ingredients should be placed in a cocktail shaker and carefully crushed with a cocktail muddler. It's important not to press too hard; mint should be broken up and bruised, but not mashed into a soggy paste.

Here at the M Resort, we take great pride in delivering exceptional service to our guests along with creating things that will enhance their experience, like a handcrafted cocktail. The art of mixology has become the culinary equivalent of preparing an unforgettable gourmet meal. With bartending, like cooking, the magic is in the harmony and understanding of flavors, the right amount of each ingredient and having the passion, patience and dedication to make or create a truly great drink!

Here are seven important elements that our bartenders incorporate into their cocktails. Try some of these the next time you're creating something exciting to sip on.

Character – The distinctive identity of your drink. Is it tropical, exotic, fruity, frozen, mixed, sweet, sour, spicy, dignified, old class, after dinner, shooter or seasonal? Are you trying to pair it with food or a special theme? There are many different elements your cocktail can take on, so it's important to define it before you begin.

Presentation – The visual appearance of a cocktail. The type of glass and garnish used should highlight the drink so it will essentially sell itself. When a well-presented cocktail is seen, the guests should think, "I want to order that!"

Flavor - The blend of smell, taste and feeling. A drink's flavor must be delicately balanced. Too much of a particular element can cause the cocktail to become out of control, and too little can cause it to deflate into something vapid and forgettable.

Aroma - The hint of what's to come. It's customary to take in the bouquet (scent) from a glass of wine to understand its essence. To create an essence in your cocktail, muddle fresh fruit or herbs to extract the oils, juices and scents. This adds flavor and aroma to the drink.

Taste – The culmination of what people see and experience from an aroma. The immediate flavors the tongue collects are; sweet (tip of the tongue), salty and sour (at the sides) and bitter (back of the tongue). The time it takes to stimulate different areas of the tongue vary, with bitter receptors taking the longest.

Texture - The blending of ingredients; they can't be too thick or thin. A consistent, smooth quality cocktail is one that is easily drinkable, not thick like pudding or runny like soup. Cocktails should also be firm and clean, not watered down.

Balance - The elements of a cocktail working together to produce a smooth and balanced drink. The strength of the cocktail shouldn't be overpowering and neither should any of the other ingredients.
