“We want to give our guests and locals a different option than what’s available on the Strip,” said Joe Bravo, our Director of Pool and Nightlife Operations. “We’ve done night swims in the past that have been very successful – after all, locals don’t want to fight traffic or crowds. At our night swims, they can relax, swim and enjoy a drink or two while getting the four-star service we’re known for.”

The first night swim kicks off tomorrow with an out-of-this-world beverage favorite – Alien Tequila. The first 50 guests to arrive receive a complimentary souvenir bottle of Alien Tequila and there’s an open vodka bar for ladies from 8-9 pm sponsored by Bud Light and Ultimat Vodka.

With more than 12,000 square feet of space, you have plenty of room to dance under the moon to the music of the Beatclan DJs. If you can’t make it to tomorrow’s night swim, don’t worry. Our next night swim, Mid-Summer’s Night Masquerade Pool Party, promises to be just as dreamy as the name intends. Scheduled for July anyone in costume gets free admission. There will also be an open vodka bar for ladies for the first hour and prizes for the sexiest costumes.

So join us for some swimming under the stars this Friday night. The party starts at 8pm.

We kick off the weekend with the Tres & Quatro de Mayo party in Ravello Lounge Friday night with resident DJ, DJ Truelove. If you’ve never been to Ravello, this weekend is the time to come. DJ Truelove will be spinning starting at 9 pm and we’ll have Corona beer and tequila whistle shot specials to keep you going until the morning. With intimate booths, a dance floor, an outdoor terrace and a large bar, it’s the perfect venue to relax with friends or, since it is Cinco de Mayo….dance the night away!

After a long siesta, our grand opening pool party begins at 10 am on Saturday on our main pool deck. We’ll have Jose Cuervo and Dos XX drink specials to keep the fiesta going well into the afternoon and live music featuring Beatclan DJs. Now, a bit about our main pool deck…it’s gorgeous and we have plenty of areas to kick back and relax. In fact, we have more than 500 lounge chairs plus daybeds and cabanas, not to mention multiple bars.

But if you’re after a more adult pool party this weekend, we invite you to check out DayDream, the best local’s pool club in Vegas (21 and older). DayDream opens at 11 am on Saturday and with a little help from DJ Hi-Tone and DJ Koko you can shake your maracas to their beats long into the early evening.

If that’s not enough to wear you out, Toto Zara will be playing with DJ Arty in Ravello on Saturday night to finish this fabulous weekend of fun. This dynamic group came from a large musical family from Spain and we’re excited to have them back with us again this weekend.

This is the first year that we’re hosting this cycling event and we couldn’t be more excited to lend our support to stop diabetes. Beyond being the host site for the ride, our team members have gotten involved by creating our own M Team. We’re even raffling a brand new bike to one of our team members!

At this year’s Tour de Cure there will be a total of 65 teams! Riders have the choice to go on an 8-mile, 30-mile, 65-mile or 100-mile route. It may sound daunting, but when we spoke to Tracie Patten, ADA Market Manager – Nevada, she assured us that if we could do 30 minutes of cardio then we could do the 8-mile ride!

If you’re active, even the least bit, and own a bike, we encourage you to register yourself or to join a team. The American Diabetes Association has added a number of new elements to this year’s ride including a new VIP zone and a Champions Dinner for riders who raise more than $1,000.

It has been said that Darren Webster’s value is immeasurable. Having started as a Field Officer for our Security team, he is now a Security Lead. He has been recognized several times within his own department and can often be seen staying late and coming in early when there aren’t enough officers to cover. He understands that the safety of our guests is number one, and continues to work hard to achieve his goals.

Gina Espinosa: 2012 Hotel Team Member of the Year

Gina Espinosa can be seen in the hallways of our hotel as a member of the M’s Housekeeping team. She keeps our hotel rooms clean and looking fabulous every day so our guests are able to enjoy themselves as soon as they arrive. She is meticulous in her work and an amazing and supportive team member. She is truly a joy to work with and our guests think so too, having received numerous commendations throughout her time at the M.

Dean Elliot: 2012 Gaming Team Member of the Year

Dean Elliot is a team player. He likes his work and loves his guests. He has set a tremendous example for other Table Games team members by working with all levels of management in both his own department and other departments. He is helpful to all team members and is constantly offering new ideas to improve the guest experience and the efficiency of his team.

Ralph Cua: 2012 Food & Beverage Team Member of the Year

It is always an honor to recognize those team members that fully understand that there really is no “I” in “TEAM.” Ralph Cua is that person. He is friendly, helpful, respectful, and gives 110% all the time to his team and its success. He’s as special to our guests as he is to us, having been mentioned many times in guest commendations over his two years at the M.

As the classes are busy building their houses this week, we started thinking about how the art of creating gingerbread houses really got started.   

Our research found that one of the earliest forms of gingerbread can be traced back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians who used it for ceremonial purposes.  The spices to create gingerbread made their way to Europe when the 11^th century crusaders brought them back from the Middle East.  The wealthy began to experiment with them to create an early form of ginger paste, which was actually used as a form of “newspaper” to spread the word of current events.  The paste was pressed into molds that had the news of the day etched into them.  The finished “cookie” could be decorated with edible gold paint or flat white icing to bring out the details of the imprint. 

By the 16^th century the recipe had been modified to include flour, eggs and sweeteners which more closely resembles the gingerbread cookies we know today.   The first gingerbread man is credited to Queen Elizabeth I, who knocked the socks off visiting dignitaries by presenting them with one baked in their own likeness. Gingerbread tied with ribbon was popular at fairs and, when exchanged, became a token of love.

By the 19^th century the gingerbread house became popular in Germany after the Brothers Grimm published their fairy tale collection which included “Hansel and Gretel.” Early German settlers brought this lebkuchenhaeusle – gingerbread house – tradition to the Americas.

The Gingerbread Houses by Clark County School District children will be on display at M Resort beginning the evening of December 1 until Dec. 21.  We hope you’ll stop by and view our modern day artistic creations.

We’ll also be hosting our annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony on the casino level near the grand staircase on December 8 at 4pm.  Rabbi Sanford Akselrad from Congregation Ner Tamid will lead the lighting and prayer along with a cantor as the first candle is lit signifying the beginning of the eight-day celebration.

1. A day at the pool. Our Main Pool is open seven days a week but this Wednesday, DayDream Pool Club will be open for a special Fourth of July celebration. Grab a swimsuit and some sunscreen (it’s going to be a hot one) and spend the day poolside in our backyard paradise. We’ve got cocktails to cool you off and the hottest DJs to keep the party going.

2. An all-American meal. What’s more American than a buffet? From macaroni and cheese to prime rib and everything in between, you can feast on all your continental favorites at Studio B. Be sure to save room for dessert, you won’t want to miss Studio B’s apple pie, with a scoop of vanilla gelato for a perfect sweet treat on the Fourth.

3. Test your luck at the tables. Our poker room started its Fourth of July celebrations early with its Red, White & Blue Giveaway promotion.
