We Tasted the New Menu at Anthony’s Burgers & Brews (and we’re still raving!)

What happens when you pair high-quality Angus beef with premium ingredients, beer-infused toppings and fresh craft brews? Well Chef Mark Sandoval from Anthony’s Gourmet Burgers & Brews at M Resort can sum it up in two words: seriously irresistible.

“Our burgers are made in-house daily, using all fresh ingredients,” says Sandoval. “But what really sets us apart is that we incorporate flavorful, craft beers into many of our burgers and signature ingredients. This makes for some robust, very unique flavor profiles. ”

We stopped in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised (not only by the numerous big screen televisions tuned into every sport imaginable, but also) to learn about several new mouthwatering menu items, like the Porter Burger (think Angus patty topped with porter-poached pastrami) and the T.G.B. (this beaut showcases a turkey burger deliciously glazed with Crabbies Ginger Beer!).

But perhaps one of the biggest showstoppers on the new menu is the Soft Shell Crab Sandwich with seasonal, oh-so-succulent soft shell crab. When our waiter described it as a rendition of a soft shell crab po’ boy, we were sold! We really loved the crunchy texture of the crisp crab paired with the spicy and tangy remoulade.  The lettuce and tomato helped offset some of the spicy edge, while the warm, toasted roll cradled all the goodness inside.

We also tried the Porter Burger, which was meaty and delicious. To get the unique flavor, they poach black pepper pastrami in porter for several hours and smother it atop of a 10-ounce Angus beef patty, topped with aged Swiss and creamy coleslaw, wrapped in a warm pretzel bun. Yumalicious!

If you want to kick it up a notch, Chef Sandoval suggests a customized beer pairing to go with any of their burgers and sandwiches. “Pair the Soft Shell Crab Sandwich with a refreshing, full-bodied American-style wheat beer like the Pyramid Hefeweizen; its distinct, smooth taste and fragrant notes of citrus really complement the unique flavors of the crab and remoulade. The Porter Burger goes best with a porter or stout, like Guinness. The earthy aroma, malty undertones and smooth, rich finish pair excellently with the savory burger.”

Anthony’s Burgers & Brews is open for lunch for guests 21 and over on Saturdays and Sundays and nightly from 4 to 10 p.m., but perhaps the best news is that it also serves up breakfast for the whole family every morning from 7 to 11 a.m. This is a great little morning spot to grab pancakes, steak and eggs or huevos rancheros. Chef Sandoval also shared his new favorite dish that will soon be on the menu: green chili and chicken hash. “There’s nothing like a little kick to get the day going! This dish has a fantastic combination of textures and heat, while the creamy yolk of the poached eggs completes the dish.”

View the menu online, which is chock full of new, delicious items like mini corn dog bites, chicken taquitos, a jumbo housemade pretzel, and of course, some very sweet endings such as lemon meringue pie, berry cobbler and carrot cake.

“I really like them all, but my favorite is the lemon pie. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and tart and completes a great meal.” Enough said!
