The Ride of Your Life

You’ll definitely want to get outside this weekend to enjoy the beautiful Las Vegas weather. So, why not make it an active outing by signing up for Tour de Cure?

On Saturday, May 3, the 8th annual philanthropic bicycling event will take place at M Resort Spa Casino  in Las Vegas.  Riders can still register as individuals or as a team to bike a 20-, 30-, 65- or 100-mile route, all in support of American Diabetes Association.

Now, I know exactly what you’re thinking… I can’t bike that far! But, Fundraising and Special Events Manager Tracie Patten says, “Don’t let the 20 miles intimidate you! People surprise themselves when they realize the 20-mile route was not as difficult as they thought it would be. If you can ride a bike for an hour at your own pace, with a rest stop, you can ride 20 miles.” So even if you’re not an avid cyclist, riders of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Maybe you’re thinking I don’t have a team. Have no fear! You still have time to join one. Go to, click on ‘Join a Team,’ type M Resort’ in the search box and click ‘search’.  Or you can register as an individual and then you won’t have to worry about leaving everyone else in the dust (or being the one who’s left in the dust!).

And, you might be surprised to learn that Tour de Cure is an event for the entire family. In addition to the rider amenities, like fabulous food options at the rest stops, a full lunch and live entertainment for every cyclist at the post-ride party, there’s also the Family Fun Zone that features a kids craft area, face painting and delicious food available for purchase.

So now that you’re done with excuses, get out your bicycle, gather the family to come root you on at the finish line, and help the American Diabetes Association reach their goal!

“With the event only three days away, we’re less than $4,000 away from reaching our goal to raise $175,000!” says Patten.  “You can still show support, even if you don’t choose to participate in the riding event. Every donation helps our crusade to win the fight against diabetes.”
